DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, ENVIRONMENT AND TOURISM POST: FIELD RANGER REF NO: C2/21/1 Directorate: State Owned Nature Reserve Re-Advertisement SALARY: R 127 851.00 – R 150 606 p.a. (Salary level 4) CENTRE: Atherstone Nature Reserve, Hans Merensky Nature Reserve, Lekgalameetse Nature Reserve, Makuya Nature Reserve, Maleboho Nature Reserve, Masebe Nature Reserve, Brackenridge Nature Reserve, Musina Nature Reserve, Nwanedi Nature Reserve, Schuinsdraai Nature Reserve, Witvinger Nature Reserve, Wolkberg Nature Reserve, Wonderkop Nature Reserve, Percy Fyfe Nature Reserve, Letaba Ranch Nature Reserve. REQUIREMENTS: An NQF 4 (Grade 12) qualification; Physically fit, Computer Literacy, no criminal record (Clearance Certificate), Valid driver’s license, firearm competency, previous work experience and related training would be an added advantage. DUTIES: Assist with the protection of the reserve and its natural environment resources which will include the following: Nature conservation patrols, inspect and repair boundary fence; warn visitors on unauthorized actions within the reserves and report non-compliance; Assist with fire management services which would include the following: Execute fire burning programme, maintain the fire belts along the fences and facilities and conduct bloc burn; Assist with access control; Assist with monitoring of ecological processes, habitats and biodiversity in nature reserves which will include the following: Gather biological and ecological data; report on areas for rehabilitation and monitor rehabilitation areas; Assist with the monitoring and control of recreational facilities which will include the following: Control and monitoring of recreational activities, maintenance of recreational areas.
