Salary: Market Related

Client based Johannesburg. Responsible for a team of 3 Permanent Drivers and 9 Freelance Drivers. Main Obective is to:

  • Co-ordinate the Company’s transport requirements, including booking and scheduling of drivers and out-sourced vehicles
  • Facilitate cost effective management of all company vehicle maintenance

Requirements:

  • Matric
  • Drivers licence and own vehicle

Skills:

  • Excellent management, communication and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of traffic legislation and regulations and road safety
  • Knowledge of the transport industry
  • Logistics skills

Basic Knowledge:

  • MS Office proficient
  • Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools and equipment for the vehicles.

Responsibilities:

Transport Requests

  • Receive and facilitate written/verbal requests regarding equipment or personnel transportation for the Johannesburg branch.
  • Receive and facilitate job cards detailing transport requirements per confirmed job.

Scheduling and Bookings

  • Attend Operations meetings to finalise logistics of upcoming jobs with all Operations personnel.
  • Plan and schedule drivers and vehicles for all confirmed transport jobs in conjunction with Operations Administrators.
  • Book freelance drivers where necessary, to fulfil all commitments in conjunction with Operations Administrators.
  • Allocate specific drivers and vehicles to relevant jobs in conjunction with Operations Administrators.

Administration and Operations

  • Fill out comprehensive Trip sheets per vehicle, using written/verbal requests.
  • Reconcile Vehicle Release Forms with Transport Trip Sheets.
  • Verify Driver’s Weekly Timesheets.
  • Transport Directors and Senior Staff to and from the airport, when necessary.
  • Ensure that drivers have clear directions and/or a map before travelling to a new location.
  • Monitor drivers’ adherence to the SA traffic regulations and legislation.
  • Check that the drivers are aware of scheduling and call-times and report for work timeously.
  • Ensure that all drivers are conversant and up-to-date with the appropriate Traffic Acts and regulations by communicating relevant information.

Vehicle Servicing

  • Arrange for the Company’s vehicles to be serviced and maintained as needed.
  • Obtain Certificate of Fitness for all vehicles.
  • Assist with Licensing of all Company vehicles at the traffic department.
  • Ensure that all drivers have current and correct licenses (PDP).
  • Sort out breakdowns and towing of the Company’s vehicles in Johannesburg.
  • Ensure that the vehicles being used are in roadworthy condition.
  • Ensure that all Vehicle Check sheets are completed daily by drivers, compiled weekly and book services accordingly.

Accidents/Thefts /Hijackings

  • Assist with all necessary paperwork associated with accidents, vehicle theft or hijackings.
  • Arrange towing and repair services for vehicles belonging to the Johannesburg branch.
  • Organise any peripheral requirements/documentation arising from the incident.
  • Communicate the appropriate procedures to follow in the event of an accident to all drivers.

Personnel

  • Assist drivers, offering guidance and support, improving work performance and resolving any conflicts arising within the division.
  • Ensure that transport personnel adhere to the rules and regulations and policies and procedures of the Company.

General

  • Handle any unforeseen transport problems/requirements on a 24hour basis as per the duty roster.
  • Be on standby in the event of any urgent requirements.
  • Assist management with any other duties as may be required.
