The post shared on Facebook calls on citizens to \u201churry up, it only takes a few seconds to apply\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The link included in the post leads to a dead website with a 404 Invalid error.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OfficialSASSA?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1409911011843452933%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fd-2580643343618199363.ampproject.net%2F2106182132000%2Fframe.html\" target=\"_blank\"><br>SASSA@OfficialSASSA<\/a><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OfficialSASSA\/status\/1409911011843452933?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1409911011843452933%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fd-2580643343618199363.ampproject.net%2F2106182132000%2Fframe.html\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a>SASSA warns the public against the below fake poster doing the rounds on social media platforms. People were informed they could obtain a letter from a social worker to collect a food voucher from a Sassa office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These \u201cvouchers\u201d could then be redeemed at Spar, Shoprite, Boxer and Pick \u2018n Pay. The agency has since confirmed the information is \u201cfalse and does NOT come from Sassa\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this month, the agency also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/citizen.co.za\/news\/2513270\/sassa-scam-alert-scammers-now-targeting-pensioners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">warned pensioners of a new modus operandi<\/a>&nbsp;used to scam and defraud social grant beneficiaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pensioner grant scam<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Criminals who pretend to be Sassa employees use skimming devices \u201cto target and defraud beneficiaries of their social grant monies\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agency explains: \u201cFraudsters approach beneficiaries and convince them to \u2018check\u2019 if their social grant cards are still valid by swiping them through a device. By so doing, the scammers are then skimming the beneficiaries\u2019 card for later cloning.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When approached by someone claiming to be a Sassa employee, pensioners and other beneficiaries should refuse to cooperate as the agency \u201cdoes not send its staff to people\u2019s homes to tamper with their cards\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sassa CEO Totsie Memela urged pensioners to \u201calways keep their social grant payment PINs safe\u201d and said the scammers were active in the Eastern Cape, North West and KwaZulu-Natal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Any incidents of fraud should be reported to the police, or directly to Sassa on&nbsp;<a href=\"tel:0800 601 011\">0800 601 011<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"
