THE CITY OF TSHWANE DEPARTMENT: EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SERVICES Division: Fire Brigade Services Section: Fire and Rescue Services Location: All regions Reference number: EMSS074-2017 Position: FIRE FIGHTERS/SENIOR/LEADING Scale: R 127 788.00 – R 279 384.00 per annum Estimated remuneration package: R162 778.06 – R355 883.06 per annum Job purpose: Rendering an effective and sufficient day to day firefighting service. Appointment requirements: Grade 12 Fire Fighter I Hazmat Awareness Basic Ambulance Assistant Course (HPCSA Registered) Relevant experience will be an added advantage Between the age 18 – 35 years Personal attributes and/or competencies: Be physical and mentally fit; physically capable to be able to operate under operational requirements and external conditions; have the capacity to operate under extreme stressful and often traumatic conditions. Primary functions: Combating and extinguishing of fire by: a) Responding to all fire incidents as requested. b) Evaluation of the scene on arrival c) Suppressing and combating all types of fires by means of water, foam, gas or dry powder. d) Prevent re-ignition by doing damping down. e) Prevent damage by doing salvaging f) Prevent smoke damage by doing ventilation. g) Prevent loss of life by doing search and rescue. h) Execution of tasks according to the set SOP’s and SOG’s Rendering of a rescue services by: a) Responding to all motor vehicle and pedestrian accidents as requested b) Evaluation of the scene on arrival c) Ensure scene safety of all incidents d) Stabilizing the vehicle and patient before extrication (Positions for JF11/2017) http://www.tshwane.gov.za/sites/Departments/Corporate-and-Shared-Services/Pages/Job-Forum.aspx e) Extrication of patients from vehicles with all the means at the fire fighters disposal. f) Execution of tasks according to the set SOP’s and SOG’s Handling of Hazardous Material Incidents by: a) Responding to Hazardous materials incidents as requested b) Evaluation of the scene on arrival. c) Identification of Hazardous materials. d) Rescue of patients when necessary. e) Evacuation of area if necessary f) Confinement and containment of hazardous materials. g) Ensure scene safety of all incidents h) Execution of tasks according to the set SOP’s and SOG’s Rendering of Special and Humanitarian Services by: a) Responding to special service incidents as requested. b) Evaluating the scene c) Execute tasks and activities as required d) Ensure scene safety of all incidents e) Execution of tasks according to the prescribed SOP’s and SOG’s Rendering a Urban Search and Rescue Service by: a) Responding to all high angle, trench, confined Space, structural collapse and swift water rescues. b) Doing an evaluation of the situation in conjunction with the Company Commander. c) Execute tasks and activities as required d) Ensure scene safety of all incidents e) Execution of tasks according to the set SOP’s and SOG’s Rendering of Emergency Medical Services by: a) Responding to emergency medical incident as requested b) Stabilizing and treatment of patients according to protocol in absence of medical/ambulance personnel. c) Ensure scene safety of all incidents d) Execution of tasks according to the set SOP’s and SOG’s Leadership a) The person with the adequate experience will be used as a leader of a sector b) Must be able to keep a group together c) Notwithstanding the above, the execution of daily tasks as delegated by the supervisory officer.SAP: S70017886; S70017818 Enquiries: ST Khale (012 358 6503)/ A Ndwamato (012 358 8637) APPLICATION: One-Stop Centre (1st Floor) Bothongo Plaza West 271 Francis Baard Street, Pretoria Central NOTE: Please ensure that you have a complete CV with updated information related to your employment, qualification(s) and contact details.
