Summary

To identify opportunities, propose, and implement network design improvement initiatives across Group Supply Chain activities resulting in supply chain efficiencies and cost reduction.

FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Supply Chain analysis

  • Analyse and document the internal supply chain processes to identify areas of leverage and opportunity for improvement within network planning, warehousing and distribution and materials handling.
  • b) Research and gather external data and analytics to highlight best practice approaches, complete a comparative analysis against internal practice and provide business with comprehensive reports to highlight gaps, synergies and recommendations.
  • c)  Identify opportunities for synergistic projects to ensure the total supply chain organization is aligned and operating to the agreed Massmart framework.

Communication Stakeholders and key relationships

  • Engage with external suppliers & subject matter experts where necessary to facilitate the implementation of the identified technologies that will support and enhance business requirements.
  • Facilitate the implementation and roll-out of best practice Supply Chain opportunities across the supply chain.
  • Engage and facilitate discussions with internal stakeholders where required.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with members of the Massmart supply chain community, and relevant SC resources who has access to the relevant data and expertise.

Data analytics, modeling and process improvement opportunities

  • Identify the data required (through data spec) that would meet the modelling requirements.
  • b)   Analyze the data to identify weaknesses or gaps therein;
  • Transform and prepare data for modelling; and
  • Strong skills in the use of data management tools including but not limited to: Excel, Access, SQL and Dataguru.

Application of Llamasoft Modeling tool

  • Develop network models that accurately answers business questions;
  • Take initiative and suggest where Llamasoft can be used to support supply chain projects
  • Be able to provide support in identifying future long-term requirements of the network through the following activities:
  • calculating the cost of maintaining and operating the current network;
  • analysing how cost is affected by different scenarios where facilities are closed, expanded, contracted or new facilities are acquired or constructed;
  • analyzing network nodes and flow-paths;
  • evaluating warehouse capacity for current and future operations to handle optimal product flows.
  • Participate in modelling the long term and medium term scenarios around proposed network changes; and
  • Create models to inform operating strategies, facilitate decision-making, make investment recommendations and identify new business opportunities
Candidate Requirements

Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications & Experience required for this position

  • BSc Industrial Engineer or associated Supply Chain & logistics or Commercial degree
  • 5 + years relevant experience in Supply Chain
